Alumni Home Page

Welcome back.  We hope that you'll use the pages here to keep in touch.  If you're interested in hearing about events in the department, please subscribe to our RSS and Twitter feeds.

There are three components to the alumni section of our new department website.

  • The Alumni Directory provides a place for you to enter (and subsequently update) your contact information.  You will need to establish an "account" and password to begin and will then use that password to make any updates to your profile.  If you agree, and only if you agree, your information will be be displayed so that your fellow alums as well as current students can contact you.  We hope that you will also indicate a willingness either to "mentor" current students or let them contact you to talk about the career path that you have taken.

The work contact infomation of our alums who received an MA in History or an MA in Public History and who give us permission to post it, will also be displayed on the Where Are We Now map.  Information about what our MA students have done with their degrees is of particular interest to students considering applying to our program, so we encourage you to grant us permission to use that information.  We apologize to our BA graduates, but you are so numerous that we cannot map all of you as well.

  • Alumni News allows you to enter your own news and follow that from your fellow alums.  Per the notice on the "submit your news" page, your submission is reviewed to make sure it is from one of our alums before it is posted.
  • Where Are We Now? locates the work locale of alums who received either an MA in History or an MA in Public History.  We encourage alums, current students and prospective students to use this map for professional networking.

Again, welcome back, albeit electronically, to the History Department and NCSU.  Please keep in touch and please consider making a donation so that we can continue to provide the same quality experience you enjoyed.

What Students
Are Saying

The public history program at NCSU is uniquely valuable for archive students because it combines a traditional history background
with hardcore archival theory and practice. Students learn simultaneously about archives from both ends - as users and managers,
enabling them to envision archives as a whole and preparing them for a variety of roles in the profession
