NCSU Resources

By no later than your sophomore year, you should make contact with the University's Career Center .  The Center has a wide array of resources to help you think prospectively about career choices, identify job-related aptitudes as well as internship and employment opportunities, improve your resume-writing and interviewing skills, and strengthen your job-hunting skills.  There are two staff members who work with History students:

Dr. Woody Catoe (for students whose last names end in I-Z); email: woody_catoe AT ncsu.edu

Ms. Leslie Bowman (for students whose last names end in A-J); email: leslie_bowman AT ncsu.edu.

Other Resources

  • Job Search Advice from a recent (2003) History BA. Points include: 1) Building your resume; 2) executing your job search; 3) preparing for an interview.  Tom Stanley received his BA from NCSU and is currently a Finance and Strategy Specialist in the Corporate Finance and Strategic Planning group at Rex Healthcare, Raleigh.  Tom is also a candidate for an MBA (expected in 2011) at the Lundy Fetterman School of Business, Campbell University.
    • Tom is also willing to be contacted about his career, job hunting and internships.  You can find his contact information in our Alumni Directory.

What Students
Are Saying

I had wanted to attend the NCSU public history program for years. It has an excellent reputation, including for job placement. On the recommendation from one of my professors from library school, I finally decided to go for it, and I'm glad I did.
