Biography

Wendy Vencel is a PhD student in Public History at North Carolina State University. She is originally from Bloomington, Indiana, and completed her BA in History and Classics from Butler University. She then earned a MSc in Medieval History from the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her current research interests are on medievalisms and modern interpretations, perceptions, and appropriations of the medieval world with a particular interest in how people learn about the Middle Ages. She is also interested in archaeology and material culture. Wendy’s master’s research focused on the construction of gender identities in early medieval northern Britain.
