Biography

Mandy Paige-Lovingood is a first year Public History PhD Candidate. Her area of specialization resides in early modern Europe and Istanbul with a particular emphasis on eighteenth-century collecting and art and material culture depicting female identity and cross-cultural connections.

Her current research focuses on the collection and exhibition of cultural exchange between France and Istanbul. Particularly, how images and objects of Turquerie were used during the eighteenth-century to construct aristocratic and diplomatic patrons’ and collectors’ social and political identity through relationships of difference-specifically gender, class and ethnicity.
